Tornefjell/Bergman

From Kiruna, a mining town way up north in Sweden.

They been embracing life here on planet earth a pretty long time, and music has always been with them over the years.

This is their first album, taken from the core of their hearts.

So who are they?

Bergman is like driftwood, been all over the globe.
Tornefjell, a family man, more like a rock.

Both of them have a never ending passion for new musical horizons.

So trust the sunshine where ever you can find it, and try to be happy.

About the songs, well... Enjoy the ride!

Misha Fair

Misha Fair, a prolific singer songwriter, has been making a bold impression with her classic country vocals and expressive lyrics. Those who have been fortunate enough to see her dynamic performances are in high expectation of her upcoming solo releases.

A product of a musical family, the singer-songwriter’s family has had major label success from RCA to Atlantic Records. As a result, she spent most of her early childhood development in the same studios as Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, the SOS Band, Isaac Hayes, and many other music legends.

With a rich musical legacy written into her DNA, her childhood was shaped by this reality in remarkable yet complicated ways. While most of her kindergarten classmates were toting My Buddies to Show-n-Tell, her father would join her, off tour, with members of the S.O.S. Band, fully costumed. Enthralled in the family business, she quickly earned a reputation as the little girl with the big voice, wowing audiences with renditions of LeAnne Rimes’ ‘Blue’ and other tunes by country artists such as Patsy Cline, Dolly Parton, as well as rock singer-songwriters Pat Benatar, and Joan Jett.

She was trained from a young age as a classical vocalist, but found her passion in jazz, hip hop, and the gritty alternative sound of the mid ‘90s. She performed in countless marquee, and children’s choirs in her hometown. Unbeknownst to her, there was a wave of hip-hop and RnB sweeping Atlanta, and the young Misha Fair found her tribe along the confluence of the shared and varied traditions that make up the musical ethos of the United States. Misha Fair attended college on a vocal performance scholarship. Minoring in linguistic studies, she may be one of the few country artists able to sing and write in multiple romance languages.

In 2008, she began an internship at Wondaland Arts Society after a chance meeting with Janelle Monae. Her professional career was kickstarted after she began assisting creatively with many of her early projects.

She has collaborated with artists, songwriters, and producers including the likes of Blanco Brown, Breland, Demun Jones, and Yelawolf.

As she embarks on a solo musical career she looks to join her country music contemporaries as a prolific singer-songwriter. All the while, she remains in high demand as a vocal trainer and artist developer. “I’m a classically trained, Southern girl, who fell in love with everything great about this country. My songs have been deep-fried in folk, gospel and bluegrass and are best served with a side of rhythm and blues, and rock and roll,” Misha Fair comments on her music.

Luminatus

Luminatus is a tale of perseverence. Formed in November 2009 as a symphonic metal cover band, performing the songs of Nightwish, Within Temptation, and Sirenia, among others, the band has weathered dozens of lineup changes, a pregnancy, a rehearsal studio fire, the mysterious disappearance of their promoter, and of course, Covid. Two members remain from the beginning: vocalist Holly McGinty, an operatic soprano from Yokohama, Japan, who originally fronted the symphonic metal band Adavant, and Dale Skutt, keyboardist and vocalist, who achieved modest college radio successin the early 2000s as bassist/vocalist of the pop-punk band Driver 6, signed to Liquid8 Records. He is also a sound designer, composer, and voice actor for Forteller Games, having worked on Gloomhaven, Frosthaven, The Isofarian Guard, Kinfire Chronicles, and Jaws of the Lion, as well as having composed music for Titan Motorcycles, the film 13 Hours in a Warehouse, and the video game Dice Tactics, and has collaborated and performed with Steven Patrick of Holy Soldier and legendary blues drummer Chico Chism.

Having released their first album "Forbidden Passages" in November 2016, several years passed again in a constantly rotating lineup until finally settling in with guitar prodigy Conrad Varela, winner of Alice Cooper's 2019 Proof in the Pudding" contest. He has also played in Cooper's backing band as well as backing Geoff Tate of Queensryche. Also joining Luminatus was Conrad's father, Rich Varela, on bass and JP Jones, formerly of Attic Toys, Veyron Crash, and Corridor 16. In November 2021, they recorded a collection of singles, aptly titled "The Singles," featuring vocals on "Frozen Waterfall" by Lane Lariviere of Run Definitely Run, with whom Luminatus has shared the stage at Phoenix ComiCon, DevCon, and other numerous festivals. Previously, Holly and Dale had sung backing vocals for RDR as well.

Luminatus has shared the stage with numerous powerhouses of metal, such as Sonata Arctica, Primal Fear, Alestorm, Ne Obliviscaris, and Arkona.

James Leeds

It took time until my latest album Whenever was ready to be released. Actually, the first contribution dated back to when I was only 15. Then I composed the song Enjoying My Day but it only got finished 25 years later when my mum completed the lyrics.

Whenever contains mainly pop songs and I was lucky to feature some amazing singers from the UK and great musicians worldwide although I am an unknown producer.

My aim has always been to create a timeless album that will still be listened to, or so I hope, in a few years’ time. For that reason I set the rule that most instruments should be recorded live. Hopefully the effort was worthwhile and you enjoy listening to the music. For more information please browse this website. Thank you for listening and thereby supporting me.

Ghalia Volt

Never underestimate the power of a woman with her back to the wall. In March 2020, as Covid blew across the planet, the shutters came down on live venues and recording studios, and the music scene fell suddenly silent, Ghalia Volt faced the same dilemma as every other artist. What now?

The answer was One Woman Band.

Having joined with the cream of the US roots scene for two acclaimed albums, 2017’s Let The Demons Out and 2019’s Mississppi Blend, Volt’s rebirth as a solo performer wasn’t a decision made lightly. But if an apprenticeship busking in her native Brussels taught Volt anything, it’s that she already had everything she needed to make magic. “In March, I started playing on a real drum set,” she recalls. “Playing a kick, snare and hi-hat plus a tambourine with my two feet, while playing slide/guitar and singing at the same time.”

After road-testing the new format at shows across Mississippi, Volt realised that one was the magic number. In August, she committed to the project, embarking on a month-long Amtrak train trip that became an intensive writing session, the shifting landscapes beyond the window inspiring her pen to scratch as never before.

Mäle

An intense fusion of Italian, melodic audacity and a British taste for outrageous and elegant power, alternative rock outfit Mäle is the vision of Alessandro Medri, Italian songwriter, singer and guitarist, and Mike Krompass, British/Canadian multi-platinum producer and multi-instrumentalist.

'Lost in Paradise' will be the first single to be released. Extract from the forthcoming full-length album, untitled yet, that has been written in Italy at Accademia 49 and recorded and mixed at BASE Culture Studios in Sheffield, UK.

Mäle was born in 2019, from the ashes of the twenty-year metalcore scene of the north-east coast of Italy, Figure Of Six and Creep, with Alessandro Medri (ex-Figure Of Six Vocalist), Matteo Troiano (ex-Figure Of Six Guitar) and Jonathan Montalti (ex-Creep Bass) .

After a year of pre-production, Alessandro met Mike Krompass (Nelly Furtado, Smash Mouth, Steven Tyler, Billy Sheehan, Dead Romantic ...), who recently moved to the UK from the United States.

From this encounter arises an artistic collaboration and a new friendship, which leads to the production of 10 songs.

Simultaneously with the recording and mixing sessions at the Base Culture's Studio in Sheffield (owned by Mike Krompass), in Italy Alessandro and Jonathan were building the line-up that would bring the project live.

Two videos were recorded and two photo shoots were made with Fabrizio Cilindro (Ex Creep), who assumed the Interim on drums but, had to part away from the band.

Auditions were opened to complete the clan and after having tried dozens of musicians, in the summer of 2022 Andrea Macrelli on guitar (Several Union) and Mattia Vagnoni on drums (When You Collapse) joined the band to complete the line-up.

Kitchener's Fog Blues & Brass Band Banish The Sadness On "Why Get Up" Single

Recording artists Fog Blues & Brass Band capture the wild energy of a Saturday night at a packed blues bar into their latest single, “Why Get Up.” And it’s no accident, because the blues banger came to life in front of an audience before it ever saw the inside of a recording studio.

Hailing from Kitchener, Ontario, Canada, the seven-piece Fog Blues & Brass Band is fresh off the heels of their successful debut album, Into the Fog.  The album gained them nods for their unique spin on the traditional rock and blues sound, encompassing commanding vocals, harmonies, guitars, keys and horns. Each single off the 2018 album has garnered radio play in Canada and abroad, and the band is also known for their powerhouse live performances at venues and festivals.

Contrary to its title, the new single, “Why Get Up,” is a testament to the band’s ability to get their audiences up on their feet. The traditional blues lyrics bemoan tough times – “Why get up? Rent’s due but I can’t pay/ Life keeps kickin’ me down/ Like I’m one foot in the grave.” But the driving music tells a different story – dance now, worry tomorrow.

"Why Get Up” is a true ensemble effort that seamlessly showcases each of the seasoned band members’ musical chops. Vocalist Hilliard “Hills” Walter leads Al Hosack on bass, Domenic DiNino on drums, Bobby Becker on keys, Dan Jancar on saxophones, Joe Dublanski on alto saxophone, and Tim Palsar on guitar. Each is just as strong performing solo as they are as part of a jam, amplifying the group’s satisfying, cohesive sound.

Not only is performing “Why Get Up” a team endeavor, but so too was the songwriting process. When one band member came to rehearsal with a rough demo of the song, the other six were quick to add their own stamp on the tune. When the band performed it live, the reaction was so huge that they decided to head to the recording studio. They enlisted Emmy winner Don Breithaupt to arrange the four-piece horn parts, and producer engineer John “Beetle” Bailey, a Juno and Grammy winner, perfected the sound. (Bailey also worked with the band on “Into the Fog” and their 2022 holiday single, “Here Comes Santa Claus,” a swingy take on the Christmas classic.)

What emerged from the studio was a traditional blues song that banishes the blues. Even as the metaphoric storm clouds gather, “Why Get Up” tells them to take a hike: “You wanna leave me baby/Take them clouds and walk away.” What’s left to do but dance? Wherever the listener might be, “Why Get Up” brings the party to them.

Cabela and Schmitt

Two Schmitts and a Cabela, that's how it all started. Two brothers and their best friend looking to rock the world. Like most kids with dreams of fame and fortune, all they really wanted to do was jam out with their buddies. Like all who came before them, they tried everything they could think of to get into the music business.

This passion to play and sing and share their songs found them playing out anywhere someone with a building and electricity would let them...school dances, a garage, backyard parties, weddings, and more. Almost immediately, this young trio of "brothers" started writing and recording original songs. Oddly enough, when playing out they found that they really preferred playing their originals instead of covers, and they were connecting with their audiences.

Well-rehearsed and armed with some studio recordings of their original songs, they started sending out packages to anyone who would listen. Very quickly, they determined that the music business was not as much fun as they thought it would be. However, their God given gifts for creating and sharing original music that was important to them grew stronger.

Throughout the years, all three members have learned to play multiple instruments, honed their vocal chops, and refined their songwriting. Their musical goal has always been and will continue to be to write, record, and share with the world their songs of family, faith, and God. Fortunately, with the advancement of technology, home studios, and the internet, the trio have found a way to record and release 10 albums to date.

Constant students of the business side of music, Cabela & Schmitt continue to find new and different ways to market and promote their music to their ever-growing legion of loyal fans around the world.

Fred Charles

An accomplished musician and one man act with ten albums under his belt, Freddy Charles is a singer/songwriter and multi instrumentalist currently based in Los Angeles. With a pop/rock sound influenced by hints of jazz and EDM, he records every note of his record himself and acts as his own engineer and producer, giving him complete artistic control of his musical vision.

Freddy got his start in music as a drummer, giving him a strong rhythmic foundation to build on as he began studying guitar, songwriting, and production. His early records found a small devoted fanbase as he began cultivating his style and coming into his own as an artist. Eventually, he would find a national audience when several of his songs were picked up by Sirius XM and broadcasted across the country, as well as being featured in several independent films. As he continued to make increasingly adventurous records, he became an in demand session drummer and educator.

The Maple Blues Band

For nearly a quarter century, The Maple Blues Band has been the cornerstone of the Toronto Blues Society’s annual Maple Blues Awards (MBA), honoring the creme de la creme in Canadian blues music. With its upcoming full-length record, “Hey Nola,” the Maple Blues Band will step into the spotlight, showcasing the lively instrumental compositions the all-star ensemble has created over the course of its decades together, out now from Cordova Bay Records.

Bassist, band leader and musical director Gary Kendall - perhaps best known for his association with Downchild Blues Band - started the project back in 1998, after a meeting of the Toronto Blues Society.  “I boldly told all present that the music that accompanied the award presentations should be better. The comeback was, ‘Let’s see what you can do.’ It must be working because the band has been the centerpiece of the Maple Blues Awards ever since,” Kendall recalls.

Kendall dreamed of putting together a big band that could tackle a wide variety of styles, including Delta blues, Southside Chicago blues, New Orleans funk, uptown blues, zydeco, blues rock, and most of all Canadian blues, and recruited some of the finest folks on the Canadian blues scene to join him in making that dream come true.

Providing the theme and background music for the event, as well as accompanying the special guests performing at the awards ceremony, the group is made up of many MBA winners and nominees. The band’s current lineup includes Pat Carey on tenor saxophone, Teddy Leonard on guitar, Al Lerman on harmonica and acoustic guitar, Jim Casson drums and percussion, Howard Moore on trumpet, Lance Anderson on Hammond B3, piano and accordion, Alison Young on baritone, tenor and soprano saxophones, Meirion Kelly on trombone, and Roshane Wright on percussion.

Kendall calls Let’s Go a true group effort, featuring contributions from band members both past and present, with songwriting credits drawn from over the group’s 24-year history.

“The songwriting helped The Maple Blues Band create a personal and unique sound. It’s what I refer to as ‘big band blues,’” he notes. “The men and women I chose to surround myself with in The Maple Blues Band are part of the enormous southern Ontario pool of blues talent. Each one of them is a star.”

John Otto Young

"Torn Away" is a tribute to Ukrainian soldiers and their loved ones that they had to leave to bravely fight for their homeland. While it speaks of the horrors of war, it is ultimately a ballad of hope and desire to return to those they love.

John Otto Young is a native Connecticut keyboardist and songwriter who has been playing, writing, and recording in a number of projects over the last 6 decades.  He started his musical journey in second grade when he started taking accordion lessons from Naugatuck Valley legend, Sal Ferla.  Years later he would transition to such unique instruments as the Ace Tone organ, the Hohner Pianet, and a Hammond CV organ, playing with local bands the Cliff Dwellers, Blues and Novelty, the Poem, and Bigfoot.  In the mid-70s, John married the love of his life, Camille, raised two boys, coached little league, ran a marathon, got his Masters degree, worked as a computer programmer and IT director, and in general lived the all-American dream, with music retreating to hobby status. But it always remained his most fervent passion.

Valerie Kay

Valerie Jay's six-song EP "Silent Night" is a tour de force, keeping a traditional yet fresh pace, beginning with an up-tempo version of the title track "Silent Night".

Followed up by the more contemporary track "Silver Bells", this festive waltz invokes an inspired gospel feel and by the time Jay leans into "The Christmas Song" with its lush string arrangement you know you're onto something very special. The EP wraps up with "Winter Wonderland".

'From the opening notes, Jay brings the magic of Christmas, her voice reaches out and touches your soul. This album glows with the 'feel good' factor, when you listen to it you'll look out your window and wish it was snowing.' - Tom Tyson, Music Producer, UK.

Jay's unique phrasing and vocal presence leave no doubt that the making of this EP was a joyous experience.

Kenneth Cole

Kenneth Cole continues to put out excellent music. Millions of listeners the world over are enjoying his unique country flair. "Something in the Moon" was written while Kenneth was in Nashville recording a music video. He awoke during the middle of the night with the lyrics of this song flashing through his mind. Once in the studio, the music brought back the exact essence of what he felt the night this song was written. The exhilaration of escaping the darkness and running into the light with someone who unexpectedly turns up in your life. Something seems so right. There must have been "Something in the Moon". Another great song by Kenneth Cole.
